How to fix content overflow issues in Bootstrap cards?

March 18, 2026

Bootstrap cards spill content when images or text ignore boundaries. Clip 'em clean with overflow-hidden and text-truncate so your layouts stay sharp without ugly leaks.

Cards go haywire when you lock 'em to fixed heights, but the guts inside keep growing, or pics stretch past rounded edges, looking sloppy. Hit the card or body with overflow-hidden to snip extras neatly, tame long titles with text-truncate (shows dots at end), and make images behave with object-fit-cover. Pop open dev tools to spot the culprits: runaway margins, flex fights, or stubborn fixed size, then swap to flexible min-height for breathing room. Clean, pro results every time.

Code

<div class="card h-100 overflow-hidden">
  <img src="pic.jpg" class="card-img-top object-fit-cover" alt="Fits perfect" style="height: 180px;">
  <div class="card-body overflow-hidden p-3">
    <h6 class="card-title text-truncate d-block">Way too long title gets dots...</h6>
    <p class="card-text mb-0">Text stays contained, no mess!</p>
  </div>
</div>
